Report: West Ham to make signing decision on Monday
No matter how much the West Ham United supporters desperately want their team to secure a January signing, there’s been nothing yet.
Despite seeming to be extremely close to a couple of deals, the Hammers decision-makers have been unable to pull anything off so far.
Middlesbrough goalkeeper Darren Randolph is one of those deals that appeared to be on the verge of being completed, but there’s been a hold-up due to an injury.
Now, Football Insider are reporting that the east London outfit will make a decision on the Boro ‘keeper on Monday.
Personal terms are thought to have been settled earlier this week, but an injury has slowed things down, and the results of the Republic of Ireland’s international second medical won’t be known until Monday.
At that point the Irons will choose whether to sign the 32-year-old or pull the plug on the deal.
The team’s need for a new shot-stopper intensified on Friday when first choice Lukasz Fabianski went down injured against Sheffield United.
West Ham Zone’s View
This makes all the sense in the world. You only hope that the Hammers are looking elsewhere for alternatives rather than simply waiting to find out the deal with Randolph.
They can’t simply sit around and wait for the Randolph results, only to be disappointed by them – especially after Fabianski’s injury.
If the 32-year-old is fit then sign him, easy peasy. If not, move on. Those are the two options. It shouldn’t be that difficult.
