Report: Crocked West Ham star has ‘decent chance’ of facing Sheffield United
West Ham United utility man Michail Antonio is thought to be in with a shout of facing Sheffield United a week on Friday.
The Hammers face League One side Gillingham in the FA Cup on Friday, but the team’s next Premier League game is likely to be the focus for Antonio.
Reliable Irons news source Claret & Hugh reported on Thursday that the 29-year-old has a ‘decent chance’ of featuring against the Blades.
Antonio was forced to miss West Ham’s 4-0 win over Bournemouth on Wednesday after it was discovered he had liquid on his hamstring.
It’s thought that it would have been dangerous to have played him against the Cherries and that it could have resulted in another substantial period on the sidelines for the Englishman.
The current noises are encouraging, but it’s understood that the club will take zero chances with the former Nottingham Forest man given his injury history.
Antonio’s return to fitness has largely been a triumphant one since he came back in November, with a number of impressive performance on his ledger since then.
Indeed, he’s achieved a WhoScored rating above 7.00 four times in six games since his comeback.
In other West Ham news, a former Premier League striker has been left blown away by one West Ham mainstay.
