Report – West Ham set for fresh talks with ex-Hammer, offer readied

West Ham will hold a fresh round of talks with Joe Cole over the ex-Hammer potentially taking on a coaching role with the club, according to Football Insider.

Manager David Moyes claimed that the former England international was being considered for a spot on his backroom staff last week, as per Sky Sports.

But speaking on BT Sport, as per the Daily Mail, Cole claimed that he had not heard anything more about the rumours from his old club.

According to this latest update from Football Insider, however, the club’s hierarchy are understood to be planning new talks with Cole, and are even getting to a point at which they would be willing to offer him a contract, provided the pundit is keen.

Should Cole be given a role?

Oftentimes, where West Ham concerned, there is a real feeling of disconnect between the board and the fanbase.

For a club that traditionally prides itself on its sense of community and togetherness, that’s a real shame, but with each failed managerial experiment or big money flop, it feels as if the distance between those at the top and those in the stands grows a little wider.

Bringing in somebody like Cole would surely go some way towards healing that divide.

It wouldn’t be a magical cure, of course, but it would show that the board still have one eye on the club’s history, and realistically, the more ex-players and renowned associates they can get through the door, the more that the club are going to feel like the West Ham we used to know and love.

Make it happen.
