Report: West Ham keen on signing Arnaut Danjuma from Bournemouth

West Ham are reportedly keen on bringing Bournemouth winger Arnaut Danjuma to the London Stadium this summer.

According to Football League World, West Ham have stepped up an interest in the Dutch attacker, and are looking at the possibility of bringing him to the club in the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old has enjoyed a good season on the South coast with Bournemouth after a tricky first year, but could be tempted with a move to the Premier League in the summer.

The 2020/21 campaign has been the best in terms of raw numbers for the Nigeria-born Dutch international. He’s bagged 17 goals and provided seven assists in the league – making him one of the Championship’s best attacking players.

Predominantly a left-winger, Danjuma has been deployed in the hole and as a loan striker on a few occasions and he’s delivered with the goods regardless of where he’s played.

He would be a fascinating signing for the Hammers, and the other clubs vying for his services.

The likes of Everton and Wolves are also in the hunt and could complicate matters should they appear as realistic contenders for the player’s services.

Arnaut Danjuma

Worth exploring

Danjuma is undoubtedly a talent who will walk into our first team ahead of Said Benrahma. While both of them have similar attributes, the Dutchman has been more consistent than the Algerian and has better end product to back it up.

He signed for Bournemouth for a fee in the region of £14m, per the BBC, so is unlikely to come for anything under £20m, unless the Cherries are in desperate need of funds – which is not the case.

His versatility makes him an option at number 10 or even as a lone striker. We’ve seen this term, Jarrod Bowen having to play in a plethora of positions to deal with injuries, and Danjuma could be deployed in a similar utility role as the Englishman.

Still only 24, Danjuma is yet to reach his best and could achieve his true potential at the London Stadium. His pace, trickery, and ability to find the back of the net regularly, make him a signing worth exploring this summer.
