Report - West Ham keen on 22y/o said to be courting interest from Euro giants

West Ham are keen on Nottingham Forest full-back Matty Cash, according to the Daily Mail.

The 22-year-old recently made the move into defence from midfield, and has been catching the eye with a series of impressive displays.

In fact, a report from The Athletic even went as far as to suggest that European titans AC Milan are plotting a swoop for him, with a £15 million offer in the works.

But the Mail believes that the Hammers are also tracking the player, who has started 25 out of Forest’s 27 Championship games so far this season.

Is a deal likely to happen?

Honestly? Probably not. Or at least, not this month.

According to the Mail, even with Milan’s interest – which would in itself provide the Hammers with a sizeable obstacle to overcome – Cash is expected to remain a Forest player during the current transfer window.

Of course, the possibility of the Irons swooping for a right-back has been mooted in the recent past, as per the Guardian, with Ryan Fredericks currently sidelined and Pablo Zabaleta very much in the twilight of his career.

But according to reliable club source ExWHUemployee, the likelihood of any kind of deal for a player in that area has subsided considerably with the news that Fredericks’ comeback is ahead of schedule.

Bearing all that in mind, it would take a minor miracle for anything to happen this month, but let’s revisit this in the summer and see what’s going on.

A lot can change between now and the end of the season.
