Report: West Ham in talks over signing Nikola Milenkovic this summer
According to Rudy Galetti, West Ham are keen on bringing Nikola Milenkovic to the London Stadium this summer and Fiorentina want a fee in the region of £25million for his services.
The Hammers are desperately in the hunt for defensive reinforcements and are very likely to sign a centre-back in this transfer window.
Per the Sport Italia commentator and Serie A pundit, they have offered £15million for his services, but are some way shy of Fiorentina’s valuation as the Italians want a fee between £21million and £25million.
A colossus at the back
David Moyes and West Ham’s interest in Milenkovic is understandable. The Serbian is a towering defender who at 6ft 5in. represents a solid option at the heart of the defence.
He’s good in the air, relatively quick for his height and adept at playing out from the back – making him a good fit for a Premier League defender.
He has been a player that’s been linked with us for quite some time and was even subject to a transfer bid last summer that was turned down by Fiorentina, per Gianluca Di Marzio.
It appears that we’re back this summer and have tabled a lower offer for the player. Fiorentina will play hardball as they’ll look to capitalise on the interest for his services, but it’s seeming likely that he will part ways with the Serie A outfit this summer.
According to Italian outlet Corriere Fiorentino, the 23-year-old believes he has achieved all he could in Florence and would like a move away from the club, preferably to the Premier League.
That works perfectly for us as it’ll take him very little convincing to join a side in the Europa League looking to build on the successes of this past season.
At £25 million, he falls perfectly into our price range and could be our first-choice centre-back for the next decade.
