Report: West Ham in talks over 18-month midfielder loan deal
David Moyes appears to be on the verge of making his first signing since returning to West Ham United earlier this week.
The Scot had an instant impact in his first game back in charge on Wednesday, leading the Hammers to a fantastic 4-0 victory over hapless Bournemouth.
Despite his players excelling in that game, the former Everton boss clearly remains keen to add to his options this month.
And Sky Sports News reported on Friday that the Irons have opened talks with Portuguese heavyweights Benfica over midfield starlet Gedson Fernandes.
The 20-year-old is said to have a £102million release clause in his contract, but Moyes’ team are looking to bring him in on an 18-month loan with an option to buy.
Fernandes has also been linked with Manchester United, but the player’s preference is thought to be for a London Stadium switch due to family reasons.

Italian giants AC Milan and French stalwarts Lyon have both made formal offers for the Portugal international, who has fallen out with his head coach Bruno Lage.
In other West Ham news, co-owner David Gold has heaped praise on one man after Wednesday’s win over the Cherries.
