Report: West Ham in hunt for ex Chelsea attacker

West Ham United fans have been calling for some outfield additions all month, with only goalkeeper Darren Randolph signed so far.

However, none have materialised as of yet, and it will be interesting to see what happens between now and the end of January.

Certainly you would’ve expected some attacking additions to arrive, with the Hammers struggling in the final third all season long.

One player the Irons might bring in is Lyon forward Bertrand Traore, with Foot Mercato reporting that the east London outfit are interested in the former Chelsea man.

They are thought to have reached out to the player’s entourage, with the Ligue 1 team valuing him at £29million.

However, Premier League side Bournemouth are said to be ready to bid that amount, while Leicester City are looking at a loan with an option to buy swoop.

Would Traore be good for West Ham?

The Burkina Faso international is certainly someone who has come on leaps and bounds since leaving Stamford Bridge.

However, he’s dipped a bit below his usual level this season. He’s got only three goals and three assists this campaign, which isn’t exactly spectacular.

He still averages 1.8 shots, 1.1 key passes and 1.8 successful dribbles, though, so he remains a useful player. But at almost £30million, there’s probably better options out there.

In other West Ham news, former England international Danny Mills has urged them to sign a World Cup winner this month.
