Report: West Ham handed blow as Youssef En-Nesyri wants Sevilla stay

West Ham have been handed a major transfer blow as Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri is against the idea of leaving the club this summer.

Per Sevilla ABC, the 23-year-old is happy with life at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium, and will reject opportunities to move at the end of the season.

The Moroccan forward has impressive goal-scoring numbers this campaign, despite making a number of appearances off the bench.

Having started only 22 league games, he’s bagged 18 goals – four of which have come off the bench.

He’s been a pivotal striker and a vital Plan B, giving Julen Lopetegui the luxury to be flexible with his tactics.

West Ham, who until a week ago, were willing to table a new bid for the player, have been dealt a massive blow.

Along with the London outfit, Liverpool and Manchester United were also keeping tabs on the striker as they are looking to bolster their attacking options this summer.

Not good news

Of all the strikers we’ve been linked to, En-Nesyri seemed the best bet or at least one of them.

He’s a player still to peak and yet continues to put in impressive displays for a non-big-three club in Spain.

The 23-year-old is one of the main reasons why Sevilla were in the chase for the longest time and Los Nervionenses could still finish ahead of Barcelona in third if they win and the Catalans lose on the final matchday.

He’s a tall striker who can be deadly from set pieces – the kind of striker David Moyes would love to sign.

Despite his height, he’s got an engine on him and doesn’t mind putting in the hard yards off the ball.

He’s also a model professional who works extremely hard to ensure he doesn’t suffer too many injuries, having missed only 5 games since 2016. [Transfermarkt]

We’ve had rotten luck with our strikers and their injuries and En-Nesyri could have been the man to address our woes.
