Report: West Ham face nervy wait on striker
West Ham United are dealing with several injuries to many of their most important players at this moment in time.
The likes of Lukasz Fabianski, Ryan Fredericks, Felipe Anderson and Michail Antonio have all been sidelined of late.
So the last thing new manager David Moyes needs is for another player to be ruled out or miss time.
Unfortunately that could well be a possibility in the case of striker Albian Ajeti – not the biggest loss, I know.
Reliable Hammers news source Claret & Hugh reported on Sunday that the club are awaiting a verdict from the FA on the ‘headbutt’ committed by the Switzerland international against Everton on Saturday.
The former Basel man brushed his head against Mason Holgate’s, but a VAR check cleared him of any wrongdoing.
However, the east London outfit are fearful that the FA could overturn the decision and slap a retrospective sending off and consequent three-game ban on the 22-year-old.
Could this really be overturned?
There’s always a chance, and Ajeti is to blame for getting involved in a stupid off-the-ball incident like this in the first place.
However, for him to be given a three-game ban for brushing against Holgate would just be ridiculous.
That would be far too much for what really amounted to ‘handbags’. Still, who knows with the FA?
