Report: West Ham 24-year-old could be on way out

Already on Wednesday, West Ham United’s young winger Nathan Holland secured a fantastic loan move to League One side Oxford United.

And it appears that there might be more outgoings on the way at the London Stadium in short order.

Indeed, reliable Hammers news source Claret & Hugh reported on Wednesday that midfielder Martin Samuelsen could be on the way out.

Hull City boss Grant McCann is thought to be eyeing a move for the 24-year-old should a planned swoop for Barnsley’s Mallik Wilks fall through.

McCann previously managed Samuelsen during a pair of productive loan spells at former club Peterborough.

The Norway international spent the first half of this season on loan at FK Haugesund in his homeland. The Irons are expected to be willing to listen to offers for the player.

West Ham Zone’s View

It certainly seems as if Samuelsen’s time at the London Stadium is up. Whether it’s now or in the future really makes no difference, he won’t be making the grade in east London.

The midfielder was once thought to be the future at West Ham, but it’s simply not worked out for him.

He’s had a few different loan spells, but never quite found a home. Peterborough is probably the closest he came to doing that, and so a switch to Hull under McCann makes a lot of sense.

In other West Ham news, a Hammers transfer target is said to be pencilled in for a second scan after an injury problem popped up.
