Report shares why Mark Noble missed West Ham loss v Liverpool

West Ham United fell to a late 2-1 defeat against Liverpool on Saturday evening.

The Irons would have left Anfield disappointed though, having thrown away numerous chances before Diogo Jota scored the winner.

David Moyes was without key men such as Michail Antonio, and the influential Mark Noble was also missing from the 18-man squad.

The Hammers skipper missed the squad after picking up a small knock in training in the build-up to the clash.

Claret and Hugh have reported that the 33-year-old wasn’t deemed to be match fit ahead of the game with the Premier League champions.

Noble has lost his place to both Tomas Soucek and Declan Rice at the London Stadium, but Moyes reassured his spot in the squad last week.

“Mark Noble has a massive part to play here,” he said. “Tomáš Souček and Declan Rice have played ever-so-well, but Mark Noble was arguably our best player post-lockdown.”

Even when not featuring in the Hammers squad, Noble will be great to have around the squad for his experience and know-how in the Premier League.

The truth is before Noble’s injury, was that he was dropped because he wasn’t good enough when involved in the early stages.

The 33-year-old has only started once this season in the defeat against Newcastle and committed more fouls than clean tackles, something which didn’t help his side.

Noble should be back soon, but he must prove himself to get back in the side.
