Report: Moyes wants West Ham reunion with ex Everton ace

West Ham United manager David Moyes has made just one signing since returning to the club: goalkeeper Darren Randolph on Wednesday.

The Republic of Ireland international is now back in east London after a two-and-a-half-year absence, with Moyes clearly liking players he knows and can trust.

That certainly seems to be the case with his latest planned recruit, with the Daily Mirror reporting on Wednesday night that the Scot is eyeing a reunion with Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley at the London Stadium.

That seems to be an entirely farcical suggestion, but the England international has been in and out of the team at Stamford Bridge this season.

Moyes wants Barkley on loan, but Frank Lampard is thought to be reluctant to sanction his exit, with the 26-year-old remaining part of his first team plans.

However, the Hammers boss is holding out hope that his former Everton man will push for a Chelsea exit to aid his Euro 2020 hopes.

Is there any way this could happen?

Barkley is certainly somebody Moyes is familiar with, and it was under the Scot that the Englishman first rose to prominence.

However, Chelsea are in the midst of a very busy season, and so it’s highly unlikely that they’ll allow a player of Barkley’s calibre to leave, particularly with no transfer fee involved.

Moyes’ only hope is if Barkley does make a serious push to leave the Blues in order to get first team football, but who knows if that will happen?
