Report – Moyes to build team around unexpected West Ham trio next season
David Moyes will look to build his West Ham squad around a wealth of British talent next season, according to the Daily Star.
A report from the national outlet states that the Scot will turn to the a host of young players already available to him in East London in an effort to resurrect the faltering Hammers.
The article states that Moyes will utilise both Grady Diangana and Josh Cullen once they return from their loan spells with West Brom and Charlton Athletic respectively, hoping that the can mimic the impact of Jarred Bowen – another youngster who was recently plying his trade in the second tier.
It is also understood that Moyes would ideally like to incorporate Jack Wilshere into his plans in East London, provided the former Arsenal man can overcome the injury issues that have continually plagued him since he made the move across London.
The 28-year-old has managed just six Premier League appearances of the Irons so far this season, but his manager seemingly has faith in his ability to become a first team fixture next term.
Is this a good idea from Moyes?
You would be inclined to say yes.
The Hammers have a wealth of good young talent coming through the ranks, and both Diangana and Cullen have proven this season that they more than capable of cutting it at a senior level.
Wilshere is a little bit more tricky.
The 28-year-old has been plagued with injuries throughout his career, and it might be a little naive to believe that he can suddenly put those woes behind him and prove his worth.
Moreover, his form hasn’t been great of late either.
This season he has averaged a total action success rate of just 66.3%, much lower than his career average of 72%, as per Wyscout.
The midfielder is also averaging fewer accurate passes and fewer successful dribbles too.
Of course, he could turn things around, and let’s hope he does, but at this present moment in time, it feels like a gamble for Moyes to put his faith in him.
