Report: Moyes ready to sanction sale of £90m West Ham man

If there is one West Ham United player who the fans don’t want to lose, but whose exit might be inevitable, it’s star midfielder Declan Rice.

The 21-year-old is a quality operator who will likely outgrow the Hammers at one point and, with the team struggling so much this season, it seems that that moment might be arriving sooner than we all thought.

If the east London outfit suffer relegation from the Premier League then their star asset will undoubtedly be sold.

However, it appears that the England international might be offloaded even if the Irons do survive.

West Ham

Reliable Hammers news source Claret & Hugh claimed on Sunday that manager David Moyes would be willing to sell Rice if the club receives a bid of £90million or more.

That stance applies to whichever division the east London club are plying their trade in.

The Scot feels that selling a star player can sometimes be a good thing, providing the club with extra funds to improve the squad.

The Englishman is constantly linked with a London Stadium exit, and it appears inevitable that he will eventually depart.

Would this be a good deal for the Hammers?

It’s hard to argue against getting £90million or so, but you wonder whether West Ham might be able to get a bit more given the landscape of the transfer market these days.

Rice’s youth, quality and first team experience at such a young age means that the club could probably demand £100million.

Whether they’d get that remains to be seen, but you could picture Manchester United offering £90-100million for sure.

Rice will leave eventually, we all know that, so as long as the Irons maximise his transfer value and reinvest wisely then it should work out OK for them.

In other West Ham news, a reportedly in-demand Hammers youngster has signed a new deal with the club.
