Report: Michail Antonio set for injury scan ahead of West Ham v Liverpool

West Ham United forward Michail Antonio played a massive part in the 1-1 draw against Manchester City on Saturday.

The Irons powerhouse scored yet another fantastic goal for the Hammers, who couldn’t hold on against Pep Guardiola’s men.

That was the positive. The negative for Antonio was that for the second game straight, he couldn’t complete the 90 minutes.

Antonio was substituted after the first half in the 1-1 draw, being replaced by Andriy Yarmolenko after raising concerns on his hamstring problem.

The 30-year-old had an initial assessment on Sunday, despite him being replaced described as a precaution by David Moyes.

Football London have reported that Antonio is now set for a scan on the hamstring issue in the next 48 hours to determine the damage.

That scan is said to determine whether or not the striker will be ruled out of the trip to Liverpool on Saturday evening.

That is the only injury concern the Hammers have right now in their squad, with Ryan Fredericks and Issa Diop back in the fold.

New signing Said Benrahma missed the draw with City as he wasn’t classed as fully match fit, something which could change this week.

Should the Algerian international and Antonio pull through this week, Moyes will have every player in his squad to choose from for one of the first times this season.
