Report: Jesse Lingard to be offered new Manchester United deal

Manchester United are reportedly looking to offer Jesse Lingard a new three-year deal as West Ham are unable to match their £25million valuation of the player.

According to The Daily Star, the Manchester outfit will be offering a new deal and wages of £130,000-per-week to keep Lingard at Old Trafford beyond this summer.

The report states that the Hammers were unwilling to match Lingard’s demands of £110,000-a-week, and that could see them lose out on signing the player.

Can’t be happening

We hope that we’ve not been taken so far along only to be priced out by a club that’s owned by billionaires.

Lingard’s reason to come to West Ham was to get more playing time and in giving him that, he realised that he could thrive and put in performances to the extent he was called up to Gareth Southgate’s preliminary 33-man squad for the EUROs.

If he does decide that Man United are the best fit for him, he’ll probably be making a mistake as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer isn’t suddenly going to change his mind about the player.

He’s got plenty of attacking options to choose from and the England international will only be a bit-piece player at the club. He might get the odd games every now and then but won’t be the first name on the team sheet like he will under Moyes.

There have been plenty of conflicting reports surrounding Lingard’s future so we’re taking everything with a pinch of salt until it’s reported by a plethora of sources.

The next couple of weeks are key as once Lingard’s back from his vacation he could be in a mood to sort out his future.

We’re still hoping that he pushes for a move to the London Stadium this summer.
