Report – David Moyes has ‘run out’ of patience with West Ham big name

West Ham manager David Moyes has ran out of patience with playmaker Manuel Lanzini, according to Football.London journalist Sam Inkersole.

The Argentine has struggled to establish himself in the starting XI since the Scot returned to the dugout in east London, and has generally found himself beneath Pablo Fornals in the pecking order.

And it is understood that his absence from the first team picture could be a permanent one.

Writing in a piece for Football.London, Inkersole said: “Moyes had persisted with Lanzini but now his patience has run out.

“Pablo Fornals has ousted Argentine from the starting line up and there is no guarantee Lanzini will be getting back into the team any time soon as he struggles to find form following his serious knee injury suffered more than a year ago.”

What does this mean for Lanzini?

The signs aren’t good, that’s for sure.

Based on his current form, and the fact that Fornals appears to be Moyes’ first choice now, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him take on a secondary role for quite some time.

Lanzini’s stats this term compared to 2017/18 – his last full season without injury – have taken a real nose dive.

His dribble success rate, shot accuracy, and number of accurate crosses per match have all dropped, as per Wyscout.

Most telling of all, however, is the discrepancy between his goals per game and his expected goals per game.

For both seasons his xG is 0.19, but this term his actual goals per game has fallen from 0.25 to 0.11.

If that doesn’t improve soon then his future at the club could be in jeopardy.
