Report: Crocked West Ham star to return v Leicester
The loss of West Ham United attacker Michail Antonio to injury for large portions of the season has been a big reason for the team’s struggles.
We’ve really seen in this campaign just how important the 29-year-old is to the Hammers, because they have missed him greatly.
His latest problem has kept him out of the last few games under new boss David Moyes, but he should be returning soon.
Reliable irons news source Claret & Hugh reported on Sunday that the Englishman should make his return to the match day squad against Leicester City on Wednesday.
He returned a little too early from a previous injury, but joined up with squad training on Friday and will be with the team throughout this week.
The former Nottingham Forest man now looks set to be on the bench against the Foxes, although winger Felipe Anderson is expected to be out for two to three weeks.
How big of a boost is this for the Hammers?
It’s massive, make no mistake about that. You could see once again against Everton on Saturday just how much the team missed Antonio.
His pace, power, work rate and knack for scoring big goals is something not easily replicated, while Sebastien Haller tends to suffer without the Englishman up alongside him.
The Anderson news is a real blow, though. Manuel Lanzini really needs to step up now, because he’s not been good enough of late.
In other West Ham news, Paul Merson has named the one player he can’t believe the Hammers sold to a Premier League rival.
