Reliable West Ham source delivers verdict on reported Joe Cole interest
West Ham are a team undergoing something of refurbishment at the moment.
With David Moyes back at the helm, the Hammers are being tinkered and toyed with behind the scenes until the new boss has the backroom staff he feels is capable of dragging the club away from the yawning jaws of relegation.
And according to a report from Football Insider, one man who is being lined up for a potential role is ex-Iron Joe Cole.
The former England international is understood to be on Moyes’ shortlist, whether it be in a full-time or part-time capacity, after revealing on BT Sport earlier this week that he would only consider leaving his media duties to return to the Hammers or Chelsea.
And according to reliable club source ExWHUemployee, there could be truth behind the rumours.
Writing on his personal Twitter account, he said: “He is one of the ex players we were talking to and hoping to persuade.”
And the West Ham Zone View is that this could be a great move for the Hammers if they can reach an agreement with Cole.
The playmaker was a very popular player during his time with the Irons, and at a time when the club has been bordering on dangerously fragmented, having as many figures of his ilk involved in the rebuilding process could prove to be something of a masterstroke.
Identity has always been a key feature of this club, and what better to reaffirm those values than by bringing in men like Cole to help freshen things up.
Factor in the fact that Cole was an absolute demon his own playing career, and who knows, maybe having him on side could rub off on some of the creative sparks in the current squad that have fizzled out a little this term.
