Reliable source: West Ham players loving new coaching addition

When West Ham United appointed David Moyes as manager for the second time they did so so quickly that he didn’t even have a proper coaching staff in place.

The Scot returned to the London Stadium largely on his lonesome, and had to proceed with a skeleton staff in the early days of his second tenure.

However, in early February the club announced on its official website that Paul Nevin and Kevin Nolan had been appointed as new first team coaches.

The latter was a former Hammers captain, of course, who represented the club not too long ago.

And the former Notts County manager has seemingly been an impressive addition to Moyes’ coaching staff.

That’s what reliable Irons news source ExWHUemployee has been hearing, anyway.

“Yea apparently he has!,” he replied on his personal Twitter account to a question asking whether Nolan has settled in well back at the club.

The players seem to really like him and feel he has been a good addition. I guess the real proof will be on the pitch.”

Could Nolan be a key piece of the puzzle at West Ham?

Hopefully he will be, yes, but it might take some time for his influence to be truly felt. He’s seemingly earned the respect of the squad, though.

That’s no surprise, because Nolan was a fantastic servant to the Hammers. Plus, he already has a pre-existing relationship with the skipper Mark Noble.

It’s always good to have quality coaches involved, and Nolan has had a decent whack at the managerial game.

This will be an interesting next step for him, and if he can help the Irons stay up then his own stock will rise as well.

In other West Ham news, a forgotten Hammers star could be worth another go round at the London Stadium.
