Reliable journalist: David Moyes doesn’t trust West Ham duo in relegation battle

After a disappointing return to Premier League action, West Ham United find themselves well and truly in a relegation battle this season.

The Hammers have lost 2-0 to both Wolves and Spurs, and haven’t looked like scoring in either fixture with Sebastien Haller nowhere to be seen.

Michail Antonio has been given the chance to lead the line by David Moyes, but that has seen no success for the Irons who are yet to find the back of the net since the break.

As well as Antonio and Haller, the Hammers have players such as Abian Ajeti and Xande Silva who could both lead the line.

Football London journalist Sam Inkersole has detailed just why that duo haven’t been given bigger roles in the past two weeks.

“David Moyes’ reluctance to play either Albian Ajeti or Xande Silva, both recognised strikers, has been much criticised,” he wrote.

“The manager will have his reasons, seemingly he doesn’t trust them in a relegation battle, which in a way you can’t blame him for but it would have worked better than Antonio.”

Ajeti’s spell at the London Stadium since arriving has been nothing short of disastrous, even the player himself would admit that.

The Swiss international has the lowest WhoScored average match rating in the entire squad at 5.97 and that has been reflected in him not starting any Premier League games this season.

The 23-year-old is yet to find the back of the net, and only averages a shot on goal once every three appearances – nowhere near good enough [WhoScored].

As for Silva, that one is understandable. The Portuguese youngster is yet to have senior experience in the Premier League and has had a turbulent past year with health problems, we don’t expect him to feature at all.
