Reliable club source: West Ham passed on this defender after Moyes scouting mission
West Ham United target and Wigan defender Antonee Robinson is reportedly on the verge of joining Sheffield United.
The Mirror’s David Anderson reported on his personal Twitter account that the Blades appear to have beaten clubs such as West Brom to his signature.
The Irons are interested in a new left-back with Arron Cresswell and Arthur Masuaku not impressing at the London Stadium last season.
However, missing out on Robinson isn’t as bad as one would think, with David Moyes having passed on signing the defender.
Claret and Hugh reported on Monday that the Irons boss never considered the 22-year-old as his number one target this summer.
Moyes scouted the United States international in a 2-2 draw with Charlton last month and decided to look elsewhere.
It is suggested that Brentford’s Rico Henry is considered more of a target for the Hammers, after missing out on promotion to the Premier League.
According to that report, Henry could be available for a fee between £5million and £10million in the summer – depending on how many clubs are interested.
The Daily Mail has reported that Leeds United, West Brom and Fulham are also interested in the lightning wing-back.
With the Hammers also interested, that is four clubs that could start a bidding war for the 23-year-old and take the fee above the suggested £10million this summer.
Moyes needs to sell players in order to make any significant signings this year, so one of Cresswell or Masuaku may need to leave in order for Henry to come through the door.
