Ray Parlour shares what friends say about David Moyes at West Ham United, Scott Minto responds
Ray Parlour has suggested that he and his mates believe David Moyes plays “negative” football but admits that the manager has delivered good results at West Ham.
A portion of Hammers fans have been calling for the sacking of Moyes due to his style of play and, more recently, the 5-0 loss to Fulham at Craven Cottage.
However, the 60-year-old has been an incredible success in Europe and the Premier League since re-joining the club in December 2019 and Scott Minto sees it “strange” he has not been offered a new contract.

Responding to Parlour’s “negative” comment on talkSPORT (15 December, 10:12am), Minto replied, “There is a fair chunk of West Ham fans that not happy with his style of play.
“But I think be careful what you wish for. Apart from the season in the league where they did just get away towards the end of the season from relegation trouble, it’s been superb.
“It’s been top-eight finishes, even better than that, deep into the Europa League, won the Europa Conference League for the first time, a major trophy in over 40 years.
“There’s a lot to look at being positive about what David Moyes has done. I just found it strange after winning that trophy for the first time in more than a few decades that his contract wasn’t renewed.”
You don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone
Lifting the Europa Conference League is one of the biggest successes in West Ham’s history. And this happened less than a season ago. It’s almost as if some fans have forgotten this moment.

All teams are capable of slipping up, like the thrashing by Fulham last weekend. But with seven wins from their opening 16 matches, West Ham are sat in the top half of the table on 24 points, just six points off the European spots.
Since losing 3-2 to Brentford at the start of November, the game against Fulham is their only loss in all competitions. Whether Moyes’ playing style is boring or not, he is capable of pulling three points from anywhere, which is a testament to his managerial skills.
The grass is not always greener on the other side. In fact, it rarely ever is. With Europa League knockout stages on the horizon and the possibility of a top-six finish in the Premier League this season, it is difficult to see why there is so much anger towards the Scot in charge.
West Ham need to work towards tying him down to another deal at the club, with his current contract expiring at the end of the season.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers have searches in progress in multiple places ahead of the January transfer window, with one named target yet to decide on a possible move.
