Ray Parlour poses West Ham board question after Graham Potter appointment
Ray Parlour has questioned whether it is time for the West Ham board to sell up now that Graham Potter has been appointed.
The Hammers’ hierarchy were heavily criticised for the manner in which Julen Lopetegui was sacked, with the Spaniard still taking training on the day he was dismissed.
Former Arsenal midfielder Parlour backed Potter to learn from the mistakes he made at Chelsea but thinks the Irons might progress further if there is a change in the majority ownership.
Parlour believes the new manager can do this and change the landscape in East London as he said live on talkSPORT (10 January, 6:50am): “West Ham, I’m always saying. They’ve got the support, the stadium’s there, you’ve just got to get results now because if you can start picking up results fans will get behind you.
“Good fan base, really good fan base West Ham. That club could really go forward now.
“Look, whether the owners should be there, I don’t know. One day they will sell the club and it might go even further forward but at the moment they’ve made that decision Graham Potter now and I hope he does well, I really do.
“I hope he does well and he’ll learn from his mistakes at other jobs he’s had.”
Graham Potter the man to turn things around at West Ham?
After what has been a poor half of the season under Lopetegui, the appointment of Potter at The London Stadium will surely have given plenty of supporters hope for the future.
While the 49-year-old didn’t have the best spell at Chelsea, his tenure at Brighton is exactly what supporters will be hoping he can do in East London.
As long as the ship can be steadied, Potter will then require the time, and support, to create long-term change with the Hammers by setting out a project ahead of him.

The new boss will get straight to work with an FA Cup tie against Aston Villa lined up for Friday (10 January) evening.
This will be a crucial early game as it will surely mark where the focus goes for the rest of the campaign in East London given the Irons only have this competition left to really achieve anything.
