Ray Parlour passionately defends Graham Potter live on air despite West Ham sack rumours
West Ham have started the season terribly, losing both of their Premier League games and crashing out of the EFL Cup.
West Ham’s 3-2 defeat to Wolves in the EFL Cup was another sign that Graham Potter’s time at the Hammers may be close to an end.
Captain Jarrod Bowen’s outburst towards the fans at the end of the match typified the mood around West Ham at the minute, and with trips to Nottingham Forest, Arsenal and Tottenham all on the horizon, matters could get a lot worse before they get any better.

Ray Parlour and Dean Saunders demand Graham Potter needs more help
Speaking on talkSPORT, Parlour defended the circumstances Potter finds himself in, demanding more action from the board.
He said: “Graham Potter is under a bit of pressure but he’s not really getting helped, is he?
“He lost one of his best players in Mohammed Kudus, and they haven’t really gone in to the transfer window to replace him and now he’s not really getting backed by the board but Potter needs to start bringing players in.”
Kudus moved to Tottenham for £55million, and West Ham have failed to replace the winger with just days left until the transfer window shuts.
Signing | Position |
Matheus Fernandes | Central midfield |
Jean-Clair Todibo | Centre-back |
El Hadji Malick Diouf | Left-back |
Mads Hermansen | Goalkeeper |
Kyle Walker-Peters | Right-back |
Callum Wilson | Striker |
Fellow host Saunders echoed Parlour’s thoughts, stating that the future looks bleak for the Hammers.
He added: “I can’t help feeling that West Ham is a bit of a sinking ship.
“Potter took over Chelsea at the wrong time, done great at Brighton and he’s in at West Ham now and his only hope is Bowen, and he seems to have fallen out with the crowd.”

Jose Mourinho could become the next West Ham manager
The former Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham boss could be making a return to English football.
Mourinho could become the next West Ham manager following his abrupt sacking as Fenerbahce boss.
His side lost out in the Champions League qualifiers 1-0 to Benfica, with the board dismissing the Portuguese manager shortly afterwards.
Reports from indykaila News on X suggest that Mourinho is open to taking over as manager of West Ham or Nottingham Forest should he be offered the role, with West ham said to be ‘big admirers’ of the 62-year-old.
Mourinho has won two UEFA Champions Leagues, one Europa League, one Conference League, three Premier League titles, and countless other trophies at club level.
He has managed some of the biggest clubs in the world, including:
- Benfica
- Porto
- Chelsea
- Inter Milan
- Real Madrid
- Manchester United
- Tottenham
- Roma
- Fenerbahce
The manager’s charismatic style and brilliant CV would represent a real coup for West Ham, as faith in Potter continues to dwindle.
