Ralph Hassenhuttl likely to find West Ham United job hugely tempting
Ralph Hassenhuttl would likely find the West Ham United job “hugely tempting” should David Moyes eventually be sacked by the club, according to Express Sport.
Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace in stoppage time leaves Moyes’ outfit precariously placed just two points above the relegation zone, with just one league fixture remaining before the World Cup.
Although reports yesterday suggested the club would stick with the Scotsman, Express Sport shared that the Austrian could be an option after being sacked at Southampton.
55-year-old Hassenhuttl sits top of the four-man suggested list and would it is unknown whether or not he would jump straight back into action if serious steps were taken at the London Stadium.
Sean Dyche, Rafael Benitez, and Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou are the other options that have been mentioned.
A quick return for Hassenhuttl
Hassenhuttl has to be the pick of the names, with the Austrian gaining many plaudits during his four-year spell in the Saints’ hot seat.
Although he delivered just one win in his last nine games as Southampton boss, Hassenhuttl worked wonders with a shoestring budget – whilst constantly losing star players to clubs higher up the league table.
If given the purse, as West Ham have provided Moyes with, Hassenhuttl would relish the chance to get back into the dugout of an ambitious Premier League side.
Out of the other options on the list, Postecoglou would be hard to prise from his position at Celtic Park although he has overseen a fantastic transformation, while Benitez’s stock has dramatically fallen following his poor spell at Everton.
Dyche remains an interesting option, with the 51-year-old openly speaking about his desire to return to the Premier League, however concerns over his playing style will surely leave Hammers fans torn on these links.
If David Gold and co want to ensure results and stability, Dyche is their man, but if they are looking for a change during the winter break, Hassenhuttl will surely sit top of the West Ham United Christmas wish list.
