‘Question marks’ – Paul Brown shares latest on key duo West Ham future
Paul Brown has insisted that West Ham are “very relaxed” about midfielder Tomas Soucek’s future at the club amid ongoing contract speculation.
The report comes after David Moyes cut the latest round of talks short according to 90min on Thursday.
With his midfield partner Declan Rice’s future also uncertain, Brown insisted that there is “no way” the Irons can afford to let the pair go in the summer.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “The club are very relaxed about it. They don’t seem to think there’s any prospect of him refusing and trying to go elsewhere.
“There’s obviously the question marks still over Declan Rice and there’s no way West Ham could afford to let both first-choice midfielders to leave in the same window. Whether they actually get a decent offer for Rice or not, they feel they could accept his future is up in the air anyway.
“I think all parties are basically being sensible at the moment and just seeing where they end up before agreeing the figures. I don’t think it’s likely that he leaves.”
Ludicrous
To let one of Moyes’ key men go in the summer is completely bizarre, never mind the both of them.
The Hammers are taking a huge risk with their handling of this situation, in particular with Soucek.

You would imagine that Rice holds all of the cards in his negotiations with the Irons with the club very much having to cater for the England international if they want to keep hold of him but with his partner, it is slightly different.
Despite being Hammer of the year in his first season with the club, he isn’t held to the same pedigree, and rightly so, as Rice but that doesn’t mean they are both equally important to the team.
They have a brilliant partnership that will be overlooked by many until it is eventually split up which with any luck will be a long time from now.
Hopefully, both of their contracts get sorted ahead of what should be a massive summer of signings for the Hammers.
