Pundit shares ‘incredible’ David Moyes verdict at West Ham United live on BBC after ‘marvellous’ record

West Ham boss David Moyes has reached a “marvellous achievement” after managing his 900th game, according to Chris Sutton.

The Hammers manager recorded a win on the milestone as his club defeated Sheffield United 2-0 on Saturday (30 September).

Moyes has now managed 666 Premier League matches from his time at Everton, Manchester United and now West Ham, according to BBC Sport.

“He’s been an incredible manager,” Sutton said on BBC Radio 5 Live’s Monday Night Club (2 October). “I don’t think he gets anywhere near enough praise.

“When have West Ham had three consecutive seasons in their history when fans have had something to be really positive and cheer about?

“He’s taken some knocks during his time as a manager but has come back to prove his class. With 900 games as a manager – I don’t care who you are, that’s a marvellous achievement and shows you how much he is valued within the game.”

Stunning career

Moyes has had difficult times wherever he has been in his lengthy career in the dugout, but the Scot has always recovered.

His current job is a prime example of that grit and determination, with the boss seemingly close to being sacked at one point last season as the Hammers struggled in the bottom half of the Premier League table.

Slowly but surely, however, he used all of his experience to grind out some huge results, with the East London club securing their safety for another season.

They then went on to lift an unforgettable Europa Conference League trophy, and have started the new season in fantastic fashion.

Plenty of credit must, of course, go to Moyes, but the powers that be at West Ham also deserve huge credit for sticking by their manager when the times got tough.

Several struggling clubs have chosen to replace their bosses in recent times, but that hasn’t been the case at the London Stadium, much to the delight of all parties.

In other West Ham news, a Sky Sports journalist has mooted an international call-up for one “sensational” Hammers player.
