‘Pointless’ – West Ham fans react to Randolph re-signing
West Ham United’s goalkeeping situation this season has been absolutely dire, as we all know, but it was given a big boost on Wednesday.
The club confirmed that Middlesbrough goalkeeper Darren Randolph has re-signed with the Hammers, two-and-a-half years after leaving the club.
The 32-year-old has signed a three-and-a-half year contract after joining for an undisclosed fee.
He will provide superior back-up to first choice Lukasz Fabianski than what the Irons have experienced so far this season, and should provide legitimate competition to the Pole.
However, this hasn’t been a move that’s proved to be particularly popular with the team’s fanbase.
After the botching of the Gedson Fernandes deal – with the midfielder joining Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday – many fans have criticised the club’s transfer business this month.
That’s included the decision to bring Randolph back to the London Stadium, which has largely been panned by the supporters.

In other West Ham news, the club are reportedly considering offers for a veteran winger.
