‘Play him’ – These West Ham fans rave over youngster’s U23s display

West Ham United have struggled at the sharp end of the pitch all season long, with the Hammers attack having disappointed dramatically.

Club record signing Sebastien Haller hasn’t been able to replicate the form he displayed at former club Eintracht Frankfurt.

Meanwhile, the Frenchman’s fellow attacking summer signing Albian Ajeti has failed to make any sort of impact.

Attacker Jarrod Bowen was signed from Hull City last month to alleviate the problem, but he’s not an out and out centre forward.

So you couldn’t be blamed for advocating a call-up to the first team squad for any Under-23s striker performing at a high level.

That’s just what’s happened after youngster Xande Silva scored for the Under-23s in their 2-2 draw with Stoke City on Monday night.

The club’s supporters have been urging manager David Moyes to give the 22-year-old a chance in the senior set-up.

One fan told the Scot simply to ‘play him’, while another declared that ‘he should be in the squad’.
