PL defender and 20-goal striker transfer update amid West Ham links
West Ham United’s ambitions of signing Burnley’s James Tarkowski and Blackburn Rovers’ Ben Brereton Diaz have been dealt a blow according to the latest reports.
It has long been known that David Moyes wants defensive reinforcements as well as a striker that can rival Michail Antonio’s position in the squad.
According to The Guardian, however, a January move for both of these players is looking more and more unlikely with attentions turning elsewhere.

Jacob Steinberg wrote in The Guardian: “It is understood that a move for Burnley’s James Tarkowski, who is out of contract at the end of the season, is increasingly unlikely this month.
“Blackburn’s Ben Brereton Díaz is on their radar, although an asking price of £25m for the Chile forward could prove prohibitive.”
Better options out there
It’s not ideal to have two of your transfer window targets seemingly slip away from your grasp but it is far from the end of the world for the Hammers.
Brereton Diaz may have scored 20 goals in the Championship but he hasn’t played a minute of Premier League football.

Bringing him in would be a huge risk for the club and the player so to stay away from the deal is probably the right move, no matter how good you become when you add a Latin American name to yours.
Tarkowski is maybe the bigger of the two misses having led the Burnley defence throughout their tenure in the top division.
The England international is sought after by a number of Premier League clubs with his contract at Turf Moor ending this summer.
The Irons could go back in for the 29-year-old in the summer when he would be available for free but he could leave this month if Sean Dyche wants to cash in.
In other West Ham news, a bid has been tabled for this striking sensation.
