Perry Groves thinks David Moyes should have done better for West Ham in their draw with Palace
Perry Groves believes that David Moyes made his changes too late, which cost West Ham against Crystal Palace.
The Hammers twice took the lead against the Eagles, but a double from Conor Gallagher ensured that the Irons didn’t keep up their 100% start.
Speaking to talkSPORT Groves revealed that he believes Moyes might have cost his team by making the substitutions so late.
He said: “I thought he could have made changes earlier when the game was drifting.
“I think he thought when Antonio scored to make 2-1, that was it, and then they lost concentration, and Palace went up the other end and scored straight away.
“The second half was quite pulsating from a Crystal Palace point of view, a little bit disappointing from a West Ham point of view.”
Did Moyes wait too long?
There is not much that Moyes has got wrong at West Ham in his second spell as boss.
The Hammers finished sixth last season and play some blinding counter-attack football that has blown away most defences.
However, he waited until the 79th minute on Saturday before making his first change, which could be considered too late.

Now, this could be due to the fact that he has a small squad at his disposal, but it was pretty clear that things weren’t working in the second half, and he possibly should have made an earlier change.
However, this is a very minor thing, and the Scotsman has got most things spot on this season already.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers are closing in on a major signing and have offered him a contract.
