Stuart Pearce claims West Ham sensation is not yet ‘complete article’ during praise

Stuart Pearce has claimed that West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice is not yet the complete article despite impressing in the Premier League.

The former Hammers assistant admitted that he is heavily impressed with the youngster though who continues to shine.

His cracking form has seen Chelsea registered with a strong interest, although the Irons have always insisted that the sensation is not for sale.

Pearce has been delighted with Rice’s progression and believes that he will only continue to get better at the London Stadium.

“He’s enjoying his football in the centre of midfield at the moment looking at him. He’s improving,” he told talkSPORT.

“I don’t think you’re signing the complete article if anyone gets Declan Rice. Year on year I expect to see improvement from him.

“If you’re asking me is he a good professional and a very grounded kid yes he is. Reminded me a little bit of a very young Joe Hart actually when I first met Declan. A good kid and he’s one of those you’d want him in your dressing room.”

There is no doubting Rice’s ability, and David Moyes would be in a much worst situation if he didn’t have the England international to call upon.

The 20-year-old made the most tackles and interceptions per game in the entire squad according to WhoScored, with no one even close to his impressive record.

Chelsea would get themselves one of the countries best young talents if they were to tempt his hand, but West Ham are doing everything they can to make sure he sticks around – much to the delight of Pearce.
