Paul Robinson gushes over West Ham United defender Nayef Aguerd in first half v Leeds United

Paul Robinson has praised West Ham defender Nayef Aguerd after he made a brilliant tackle in the first half to deny a dangerous move from Leeds United.

In the third minute of the game, Thilo Kehrer made a mistake outside the box, and Rodrigo intercepted the pass and carried the ball into the box, but Aguerd made a superb clean tackle to win the ball.

Robinson, who also works for Sky Sports, said live on air during the game that it was a “really good tackle”, and a “perfectly timed” challenge by the Moroccan.

“Really good tackle. Rodrigo gets away from a mistake from West Ham,” said Robinson for Premier League World feed (around 3rd minute).

“Rodrigo just doesn’t have the legs to get away but Aguerd recovers, a perfectly timed challenge because he was running the risk of a penalty. He knew he had to time the challenge perfectly.”

What a player!

West Ham signed Aguerd in the summer for a big-money transfer fee, but he was very unfortunate with his injury.

He missed almost the entire first half of the season, but returned to action just before the World Cup.

Aguerd was sensational for Morocco in the World Cup and it seems he has continued his impressive form as he made his first start in the Premier League.

The Hammers made a bright start at Elland Road, and there was some brilliant exchanges of plays in the final third involving Lucas Paqueta and Jarrod Bowen.

Pablo Fornals was superb in the middle, but the lack of confidence in the side was clearly visible as they fell back behind yet again.

All the good work done by the players has gone to waste as they allowed Leeds to take control of the game after Willy Gnonto gave them the lead.

Luckily for the Hammers, they have got back into the game after Paqueta scored from the spot.

It will be interesting to see what David Moyes does – will he stick to his game plan or will he go for an all-out attack in the second half?
