Paul Merson predicts West Ham United win v Fulham
Paul Merson has predicted a win for West Ham United in their next Premier League fixture against Fulham at London Stadium on Sunday, 09 October.
The Hammers are finally back on winning ways in the league competition after securing their second triumph of the 2022/23 season against Wolves on 01 October.
Merson, in his latest column for Sportskeeda, stated that the result will be depending on the fitness of Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic.
“The result of this game will depend on Aleksandar Mitrovic’s fitness,” he wrote. “I saw him earlier this week and he said he hopes to be fit, but we’ll have to wait and see.
“West Ham are such a threat when it comes to set-pieces, so Mitrovic could play a huge role for Fulham at both ends of the pitch.
“Fulham have had a bit of a wake-up call in recent weeks, they went down to ten men against Newcastle and got absolutely blown away last weekend.
“I fancy West Ham to win this one as they look to climb the Premier League table after an underwhelming start to the season. West Ham 2-0 Fulham.”
Big match
West Ham started the season slowly where they only managed to win one match from their first seven games, leaving them in the drop zone during the international break.
However, the Hammers secured a much-needed win on 01 October while playing at home against another struggling side Wolves made things look much better than what they were before.
That win also helped ease some pressure on David Moyes as there were rumours of him being uncertain to continue his job at the club with a series of poor results.
It is now time for the former Manchester United manager to ensure that his players will keep the momentum going and secure another positive result this weekend against a struggling Fulham side.
Looking at the overall record against The Cottagers will give the Irons fans something to be optimistic about as their side has won 14 times in 24 meetings with Fulham in the Premier League where they’ve suffered only six defeats.
