Paul Merson predicts West Ham United clash v Liverpool

Paul Merson has backed Liverpool to breeze past West Ham United in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Sky Sports pundit has predicted that it will finish 2-0 to the home side at Anfield in what is a “massive” game.

West Ham cruised past Wolves last weekend, but crashed to a poor defeat in the FA Cup at Southampton days later.

Writing in his Sportskeeda column, Merson shared what he expects to happen at Anfield over the weekend.

“This is a massive football match in the Premier League,” he wrote.

“West Ham got a good result against Wolves in the Premier League, but Southampton knocked them out of the FA Cup.

“Liverpool are rolling along and I don’t think there is a team out there that can prevent them from scoring, so I think they’ll win and put major pressure on Manchester City as they prepare to take on Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium.”

Massive.

West Ham are desperate for some consistency in the Premier League after a poor couple of months in terms of results.

Unfortunately for us, after finally getting that much-needed win, the next league game had to be Liverpool away.

With Manchester City stuttering recently, Jurgen Klopp will be putting out his strongest side possible in order to get a result.

David Moyes won’t be afraid of that, though, and will be confident that his side can leave Merseyside with one, if not three points.

It would be a huge statement to make, and a reminder to everyone who has already written off the Irons in the hunt for the top four.

That would be a mistake, time to prove it.
