Paul Brown shares Mohammed Kudus verdict as West Ham United yet to see best from Ghana ace

Paul Brown has admitted that West Ham United supporters are yet to see the best of Mohammed Kudus, despite an electric start at the London Stadium.

The Ghana International joined the ranks in East London from Ajax during the summer transfer window and has gone from strength to strength under David Moyes, scoring 10 goals in 24 appearances in all competitions.

Kudus’ form has seen him touted as one of Moyes’ best signings during his time with the Hammers, but freelance journalist Brown believes that there is still more to come from the 23-year-old.

As quoted by Give Me Sport (31 December) he said: “They’ve made some really good signings, I think, in the last couple of years under Moyes. You have to say that Jarrod Bowen has worked out to be an incredible signing.

“A lot of people saw the potential there, but West Ham were the ones who took the punt on it and he’s ended up in the England team and been a consistent goal threat for West Ham every week.

“But Kudus, I have to say, because of his age and his profile, I think he’s going to get better. I don’t think you’ve seen the best of him yet.

“I think he is a really talented player and I think a lot of teams will already be thinking that they missed a bit of a trick by not pushing harder to sign him, so it’s full credit to West Ham that they managed to get him and I think he’s going to go from strength to strength.”

Excellent business

West Ham have completed some truly exceptional transfer business under the management of Moyes during his second spell at the London Stadium, but the addition of Kudus may be their best work yet.

The Ghana International has hit the ground running in the Premier League and has brushed aside any suggestions that it would take him time to adapt to the English game. There will be several clubs wishing they had challenged the Hammers’ interest in the summer.

What makes Kudus’ addition so exciting is the consensus that the winger could get even better in the future. Although he has been dazzling so far this season, it feels like there could be another level the 23-year-old could reach once he’s fully settled.

The only negative of the hype around Kudus is that it will likely bring further interest. If the West Ham man continues to go from strength to strength, teams will be keen to take him off the Irons’ hands in the summer.
