‘Outstanding’ – These West Ham fans in awe of Hammer v Sheffield United
One of the big problems at West Ham United under former manager Manuel Pellegrini was a lack of support for striker Sebastien Haller.
It seemed like that had been resolved somewhat under David Moyes in the thumping win over Bournemouth last week, but the issue reared its ugly head again against Sheffield United on Friday night.
The Frenchman, despite that, actually had a pretty solid performance in the 1-0 defeat at Bramall Lane.
He put himself about consistently and gave the Blades defenders something to think about throughout. If he had a big more support he probably could have accomplished a lot more.
The funny thing is, Haller had so much success at former club Eintracht Frankfurt because he played in a two up front and thus had someone in and around him at all times.
Sometimes you wonder whether anyone at the London Stadium watched him play last season? Perhaps they were merely seduced by his excellent raw numbers.
Still, he produced an encouraging display despite those difficulties on Friday. The West Ham faithful were certainly impressed by what he offered, with one supporter labelling him ‘outstanding’.
