‘Our best player’ – These West Ham fans rave over one player v West Brom

There certainly weren’t many bright spots for West Ham United in their 1-0 FA Cup defeat to Championship high-flyers West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

David Moyes made only four changes, whereas Slaven Bilic made eight, yet the Hammers were comprehensively outplayed by the Baggies.

This was an embarrassing defeat for Moyes and the club’s owners. They were stuffed by a former manager with a team in the division below playing largely a reserve XI.

There needs to be some long looks in the mirror from plenty of people at the London Stadium after another potentially promising cup run came to a hugely dispiriting end.

However, one small positive may have emerged from the play of striker Albian Ajeti up front alongside club record signing Sebastien Haller.

The Switzerland international hasn’t had many chances this season, but he looked up for it today and worked his socks off – to varying success.

Indeed, he wasn’t perfect by any means, but he certainly looked livelier than Haller. The Hammers supporters appreciated his efforts, anyway, with one of them hailing him as ‘our best player’.
