Oleksandr Zinchenko eye Manchester City exit amid West Ham transfer link

West Ham United have made contact with the agent of Manchester City left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko, according to a report from 90Min.

The 25-year-old has two years left on his current deal at City. Although the Premier League champions are ready to offer him a new deal, he has now decided to explore other options.

The report adds that Arsenal, Leicester and Everton are also interested in signing the four-time Premier League winner who will only move if he assured a role in midfield and not in defence.

Interesting

The Hammers need to sign a left-back, a cover for Aaron Cresswell this summer.

At the same time, they are also looking to bolster the midfield after Mark Noble has retired.

Zinchenko ideally can fit both roles, although he has played mostly as a left-back for City.

Now, does Moyes see him as a genuine midfielder?

Moyes probably wants him to be a guaranteed starter at left-back, and someone who can also play in midfield if needed.

However, Zinchenko has other demands. The Hammers may need to re-think their transfer strategy before making a potential move for him.

The summer transfer window is going to be crucial for the Hammers, with Moyes may need to make as many as five to six top-quality signings.

The club could also be looking to sell some of their fringe players to make room for new additions.

Zinchenko would be a good signing for the club, but doubts remain whether Moyes sees him as a natural midfielder.

In other West Ham news, a deal is on the cards to sign a forward who Moyes once compared to Wayne Rooney.
