Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: Man United could be missing seven players v West Ham

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could have up to seven first-team players missing for the clash with West Ham on Sunday.

The Red Devils are hoping to build on their Manchester Derby win last weekend at the Etihad, but will likely name a weakened side when they host the Hammers.

Chief writer for the Manchester Evening News has reported on his Twitter that United will be without Edinson Cavani, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba. Squad players Donny Van de Beek and Juan Mata are also missing, whilst David de Gea is having to self-isolate.

A big opportunity

The injury crisis at United presents a massive opportunity for us in the race for Europe. 27 matches in and we’re still in with a shout, but are we being taken seriously?

Sunday is our chance to make a huge statement. If we want to be up there at the end of the season we simply have to beat our rivals. We haven’t won at Old Trafford since 2007, and we can’t see there being a better opportunity to break this run.

Ironically, Jesse Lingard would probably have slotted right into the United attacking frontline this weekend. He will miss out for the Hammers which is a huge shame, he’s been sensational since joining on loan.

West Ham

We still have plenty of firepower to do damage to this United side. When we met in January in the FA Cup, United were no better than us despite our injuries.

Moyes has a fully confident group of players now. It’s getting to the business end of the season, and if we want to be rewarded for all of our hard work so far we can’t let up now.

With Chelsea and Tottenham both playing well recently, Sunday is a huge match for us. Let’s hope the boys can come away with a result.
