West Ham United: Kalvin Phillips slammed as ‘waste of space’ in 2-0 loss vs Nottingham Forest
Journalist Justin Allen suggested West Ham fans will consider Kalvin Phillips “a waste of space” after his sending off against Nottingham Forest.
Phillips has had a terrible time of things since arriving on loan at London Stadium from Manchester City in the January transfer window.
That continued on Saturday (17 February) as he was sent off for two bookable offences at City Ground on another day to forget for the Irons as they lost 2-0.
Allen posted a meme from TV show Fawlty Towers on his personal Twitter page [17 February] which carried the text: “You’re a waste of space”.
The Sun writer added: “Kalvin Phillips …. this is what West Ham fans must be thinking about you so far.”
Kalvin Phillips loan spell at West Ham goes from bad to worse
Phillips was at fault for a goal in his first two games for West Ham, before coming on in the shambolic 6-0 loss to Arsenal.
Handed a start against Forest, this was supposed to be the England international’s chance to finally show fans what he is all about.
Anything but. Phillips picked up two bookings in the space of under three minutes, the second for a late challenge on Morgan Gibbs-White.
The 28-year-old trudged off the field and down the tunnel, knowing that he will now serve a suspension against Brentford next time out.

The Irons paid a fairly large sum to bring Phillips on loan, and time is fast running out for him to return any of that fee.
Some loan moves work out far better than expected (Jesse Lingard), while some work out the opposite.
Unfortunately, that is very much the category Kalvin Phillips finds himself in.
In other West Ham news, Karren Brady appears to have made her stance clear on David Moyes’ future at London Stadium.
