Anthony Elanga mocked live on BBC after what happened in Nottingham Forest v West Ham United

Shay Given joked Nottingham Forest ace Anthony Elanga may want to give Match of the Day a miss after a flurry of chances went begging against West Ham.

Elanga had four shots, two of those forcing Alphonse Areola into a save, without being able to find the back of the net.

It mattered little in the end as 10-man West Ham fell to a 2-0 loss at City Ground in Saturday’s (17 February) Premier League contest.

After showing each of Elanga’s chances on BBC Match of the Day [17 February, 1hr, 4m 59s], former goalkeeper Given added: “I mean, Elanga probably won’t want to watch Match of the Day tonight. He had a few chances again.”

West Ham could do with an Anthony Elanga

Elanga really should have scored at least once, but in fairness Areola – West Ham’s best player on the day – produced some outstanding saves to keep him out.

The former Manchester United player was a real threat throughout and also created a game-high four chances for his side, albeit with no assists [WhoScored].

From a West Ham perspective, how they could do with someone like Elanga in the side right now; a player who is able to create danger from nothing.

West Ham
Mohammed Kudus has been a key performer for West Ham this season.

Mohammed Kudus had been that player for the Irons for a while, but he has now gone five games without a goal or assist in the claret and blue.

As a team, United have now gone three games without a goal and that quite simply is not good enough.

The talent is there, but the team is not clicking right now. It is a problem David Moyes must solve now if he is to end the speculation over his future.

In other West Ham news, the Irons have already eyed up an alternative option to Kalvin Phillips at the end of the season.
