Nottingham Forest team news v West Ham United in new Morgan Gibbs-White update

Morgan Gibbs-White and Chris Wood have a 50/50 chance of featuring for Nottingham Forest v West Ham on Saturday (2 November), according to Ben Dinnery.

The injury expert reported via his Premier Injuries website [31 October] that the duo could be unavailable before citing Nuno Espirito Santo via X [31 October] as saying that Forest have “some issues”.

Gibbs-White and Wood are both being assessed before the Hammers travel to The City Ground to face a Forest side currently sitting seventh in the Premier League, though neither injuries are believed to be serious.

West Ham United handed potential advantage ahead of Nottingham Forest clash

Julen Lopetegui will be keen for his side to build upon the contentious 2-1 win over Manchester United last weekend, and Gibbs-White and Wood being unavailable for the game would be huge.

Only Manchester City’s Erling Haaland and Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo have more goals than the Australian poacher this season, with the player notching seven times so far.

The Hammers’ defence has been far from water-tight this season, a trend carrying on from David Moyes’ last season in charge, and going up against Forest’s two most devastating players would be a concern.

The Reds are just two points off the top-four spots in the Premier League, and while they are dreaming of success, the Irons have managed to move seven points clear of the relegation zone after a torrid start.

A victory at The City Ground would certainly help the Hammers to push up the league table, also drawing attention away from the pressure on Lopetegui to turn things around.

However, a defeat to Forest on Saturday (2 November) could undo all of the hard work after claiming a dramatic win against the Red Devils at the London Stadium last time out.

With Niclas Fullkrug still injured and Mohammed Kudus serving his suspension, the Hammers certainly have their own team issues to deal with, but Gibbs-White and Wood missing would be crucial.

In other West Ham news, the club have approached the staff of a new striker whose exit is seen as “inevitable”.
