Nottingham Forest close to signing Emmanuel Dennis after West Ham considered move

Nottingham Forest are close to signing Watford forward Emmanuel Dennis who was also “considered” by West Ham, as per Ben Jacobs.

The CBSSportsGolazo journalist wrote on Twitter on 12 August that both the Hammers and Newcastle considered Dennis as an option.

However, Forest appear to be closing on a deal, in the region of £20m, while personal terms were also agreed.

Cornet better option

The Hammers have been linked with a host of players this summer, including Dennis.

After Watford got relegated last season, it was expected that they will sell some of their top players this summer.

Dennis was brilliant for them last season scoring 10 Premier League goals.

The Hammers, however, have bolstered their forward department by signing Gianluca Scamacca from Sassuolo and Maxwel Cornet from Burnley.

West Ham

While Scamacca is out an out striker, Cornet will provide versatility as he can play in several positions across the pitch.

Probably West Ham weren’t prepared to meet Watford’s asking price, or they felt there are better options elsewhere.

The Hammers could still sign another attacking midfielder cum winger if they manage to sell Said Benrahma.

Dennis would have been a decent signing for the club, but the Hammers won’t mind missing out on him.

West Ham currently are looking to sign a central defender and a midfielder to their squad.
