Noel Gallagher predicts West Ham to secure Europa League football v Southampton

Noel Gallagher has predicted West Ham to end their season on a weak note in a 1-1 draw with Southampton on Sunday evening.

The Irons host the Saints at the London Stadium with the chance of securing Europa League football next season firmly in their hands.

While Oasis star Gallagher believes they will achieve their aim, he doesn’t believe it will be marked in style.

“Neither of them are playing that great right now,” he told BBC Sport.

“But I think West Ham will go out with a whimper, so probably a draw.”

We’ll take it

One point would have the dual effect of securing Europa League football next season and making it our highest-ever Premier League points tally of 63.

That would be a remarkable achievement given we were battling relegation less than 12 months ago.

But we’d like the Irons to power past the Saints on Sunday and ensure there is no nervy finish to our season.

Tottenham Hotspur and Everton are the two sides who can still overtake us, though they both have tough fixtures on paper against Leicester City and Manchester City respectively.

Our assignment looks a lot easier against a side that have been in freefall this year and won just twice in their last eight outings.

The reverse fixture saw a pretty dire 0-0 draw and that would be enough for us on Sunday, but we want more.

Fans will be back at the London Stadium and are sure to be in good voice as they warmly welcome Moyes’ charges who have given us so much joy this season.

Let’s finish the job off in style.
