Claret and Hugh: No enquiry made by Liverpool for West Ham winger Jarrod Bowen

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has not made an enquiry for West Ham attacker Jarrod Bowen, according to Claret and Hugh.

The Athletic reported recently that the Reds were keen on the 24-year-old this summer and have added him to their transfer shortlist.

However, Claret and Hugh detail that no official enquiry had been made and that the Hammers would want at least £35million if they are to part ways with him.

Hugh Southon wrote, “Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has made no enquiry for West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen.

“The Anfield chief has been heavily linked with the £23million Hammers signing over the past few days but club insiders have confirmed to ClaretandHugh tonight that there has been no discussion with the Anfield club.

“A source at the club revealed there has been no enquiry, no bid and at this stage no interest demonstrated by the Merseysiders.

“The club would want a minimum of £35million for the 24 year old whom Klopp has been linked with fancying quite strongly. ”

Must keep him

Bowen’s been one of the best signings of the last few seasons and we cannot afford to be in a seller’s market for our top players.

It sends the wrong message to new recruits as it portrays us as a club unable to turn down the big teams and it gives the impression that we’re fine being used as a stepping stone.

Driving the price up for the attacker is probably the best way to tell Liverpool that we’re unwilling to get into negotiations for Bowen and if they’re still persisting with their pursuit then they will have to pay over the top for him.

In his first full season at the London Stadium, Bowen made 40 appearances and was used as a Swiss army knife by David Moyes who played him in a number of positions due to injuries suffered by others in the squad.

We cannot sell him at any cost this summer.
