No chance of West Ham United sacking David Moyes as pressure in overdrive at London Stadium

West Ham are not looking to sack David Moyes despite a poor run of form, according to journalist Paul Brown.

The Daily Star journalist said to Give Me Sport that sources inside the club have told him that Moyes’ job is not under threat, but the situation could change.

The Hammers have been struggling to maintain consistency in the Premier League, and they were dumped out of the Carabao Cup by Championship side Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday (9 November).

“I can understand why West Ham fans are not happy. Their owners promised them a lot many years ago and they seemed on the verge of being able to realise some of that last season, but they’ve clearly taken a step back,” said Brown to Give Me Sport.

“I think it’s no surprise that the manager is getting a bit of stick and coming under fire. I know a lot of West Ham fans and I have a lot of them in my ear all the time complaining about him. A lot of them now want him gone.

“Personally, I think it’s a bit too soon for a club like West Ham to be putting the manager under pressure and, from what I’m told by sources inside the club, his position is not currently under threat at all. That, obviously, could change.”

Continuity

Moyes has done a tremendous job at West Ham, and no one can deny that.

When he took charge of the club, the Hammers were teetering on the verge of relegation. In the next two years, he made them a formidable side in the Premier League and did well in Europa League last season.

In the past two seasons, the Hammers came close to securing a top-four place in the league, which shows how far they have progressed.

This summer, the club have shown ambition in the market by spending a huge amount of money on several quality players, but the results haven’t been upto the mark.

Sacking Moyes is not an option for the Hammers board, nor should they consider it unless the situation gets beyond control. He has earned that right to be trusted.

Some of the summer signings haven’t played much due to injuries, and Moyes hopes to get them back fully fit after the World Cup. The likes of Nayef Aguerd, Maxwell Cornet and Lucas Paqueta could make a big difference to the side in the second half of the season.
