Nikola Milenkovic to sign long-term West Ham contract

West Ham United are finally closing in on the signing of Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic this week.

Ryan Taylor has now shared that the Serbian is set to sign a long-term contract at the London Stadium.

The Express journalist reports that a £14million deal is on the verge of completion as the Irons kickstart their summer business.

Finally, the Irons look set to get a deal over the line.

Milenkovic is in the final year of his contract in Italy, and waiting an extra year has only benefitted West Ham.

The Hammers attempted to sign the 23-year-old last season for £21.2million but failed with that offer at the time.

A meeting took place late on Monday evening, and it is expected that the deal was all-but-concluded there between all parties.

Beating Tottenham to his signature is also a big statement, and it looks as though we aren’t exactly finished there.

Late twist?

ExWHUemployee reported last night that talks had also been resumed with Kurt Zouma, but that shouldn’t affect this deal.

It is suggested that the unthinkable may happen with both Zouma and Milenkovic arriving this summer, although it was described as highly unlikely.

We have gone through too much to celebrate anything until it is finally announced, and that is how we will play it with this one.

Milenkovic will be a quality signing and improve the squad for many years to come, especially given our ageing defence as it stands.

David Moyes will want more though, and we have another three weeks to get more deals across the line.
